February 9th, 2008 Cleanup Summary

Great clean-up this past Saturday! We had about 44 people out there divided into 4 groups taking each side of the street and starting at each end of 8th Avenue meeting in the middle. Many of the kids got really involved and some seek now to become part of Oak Park's leadership. That is what Al and I started this adventure hoping for and I have to say it's really maturing thanks to all of your participation. We missed CB out there this month but we had great growth from Immaculate Conception Church. Apparently, they had noticed us cleaning one Saturday and asked Al how to participate. A few joined us last month and this month they brought a whole crew. Next month, they intend to bring more.Al, I know we're super busy, but I think it would be great if we worked with OPBA's ecclesiastical roundtable list to arrange periodic speaking engagements at local churches to invite, to engage, and to inspire their participation in 2nd Saturday Clean-Up. Be well everyone and Oak Park should count its blessings the day that Al arrived! Thanks for being my great partner in non-crime. ;)

May 12th Clean Up - McClatchy Park

May 12th, 2007

Hello everyone,
What a great year it has been for the Oak Park 2nd Saturday Cleanups. We have had over 500 volunteers come out to support our last 8 cleanups in the 2006-2007 year. We aren't done yet! Our last cleanup will be at McClatchy Park in preparation for the Celebrate Oak Park community BBQ. We will be helping the Oak Park Neighborhood Association set-up for the event as well as making sure the park and surrounding streets are free of litter. As our last event before the summer we would like all past participants and newbies to come out and volunteer for this event. After the set-up we invite all volunteers to stay for free BBQ as a thank you for your hard work and support. As always volunteers should arrive at 9:45am and sign-in underneath the white tent near the baseball fields & bathrooms.
Details:
Location: C.K. McClatchy Park
3500 5th Ave.
Sacramento, CA 95817
Time: 9:45am - 12pm (stay for the BBQ from 12pm to 4pm)
